Nyonikayiphumuli is an autonomous, self-help organization controlled by its members. If we enter into agreements with other organizations, including governments, or raise capital from external sources, we do so on terms that ensure democratic control by our members and maintain our co-operative autonomy.
Nyonikayiphumuli savings and credit co-operative serve its members most effectively and strengthen the co-operative movement by working together through local, national, regional, and international structures.
ncluding governments, or raise capital from external sources, we do so on terms that ensure democratic control by our members and maintain our co-operative autonomy.
We work for the sustainable development of our communities through policies approved by the general meeting.
We are a voluntary organization, open to all persons who are able to use our services and willing to accept the responsibilities of membership, without gender, social, racial, political or religious discrimination.
We are a democratic organization controlled by our members, who actively participate in setting our policies and making decisions. Me and women serving as elected representatives are accountable to the membership. In our co-operative, members have equal voting rights (one member, one vote), and we are organized in a democratic manner.
Our members contribute equitably to, and democratically control, the capital of our co-operative. At least part of that capital is usually the common property of our co-operative. Our members usually receive limited compensation, if any, on capital subscribed as a condition of membership. Our members are allocated surpluses for any or all of the following purposes:
- Developing our co-operative, possibly by setting up, reserves, part of which at least would be indivisible.
- Benefit our members in proportion to their transactions with the co-operative.
- Supporting our activities approved by the membership.
